ABOUT DARREN WENZEL

My art journey began professionally in 1987 beginning a 4 year sign painting apprenticeship for a Display company in Adelaide, South Australia where i originate from. 

 

Over the next 20 years i traveled all over Australia and extensively through the USA working among the best artists in my industry. 

 

In 2007 i moved to the US full time working for a friends custom paint business in Virginia. After a 3 year stint there I moved to Austin TX.

I opened my own custom paint/signpainting business. This was the beginning of craziness for me. Work exploded, travelling all over the USA and small stints back home in Australia with clients ranging from Kings of Leon, Williams F1, Fort Worth Stockyards, Dan Winters Photography, Nike, ABC Studios Austin, Kid Rock, Vandals punk band, Jesse James, Alexis DeJoria, Olympic skier Bella Wright, Bunny Burket to name a few.

 

I have been fortunate to travel the US and Mexico City as an instructor for many programs such as Airbrush Action Magazine, Ultimate Air Affair, Airbrush Art Circus, PPG Paints and Delta Tiger Art School.

 

Amoung many magazine publications in The USA, Australia, Sweden, Japan and UK I have been involved in TV shows Texas Garage Wars, Monster Garage, Biker Build Off and Iron Resurection.

My work has not just been a job but my hobby and passion my whole working career.

I'm very proud of my achievements and experiences life has presented me with. 

At this point in my life I'm now focused on my fine art, excited to finally have the time to explore different mediums and tap into the thousand ideas that have been circling my brain.
